Fluffy Cow Farms is an educational farm animal sanctuary in Melrose, FL, founded by Elaine after more than 20 years of rescuing farm animals and sharing their stories. It began with a childhood love of animals and grew into a peaceful 20-acre farm where visitors meet Highland cows, pigs, turkeys, and dozens of rescued friends up close. Here is how it all started, in Elaine's own words.

A Childhood on My Aunt's Farm
When I was a little girl, my favorite place in the world was my aunt's farm. I loved breathing the fresh country air, surrounded by cornfields, gardens, and a variety of fascinating creatures. I loved every animal there and wanted to be friends with all of them.

Friends, Not Food
But those animals weren't meant to be friends. They were meant to be eaten. Even as a child, it hurt me to know these gentle creatures were seen as food instead of friends. That feeling never left me, and it shaped everything I have done since.

Sharing Farm Life With Others
Knowing that not every child gets to experience farm life, I want to share it with as many people as I can. Our farm is a clean, peaceful place where kids and adults can run, play, and meet friendly animals, and where the fish and turtles hope you will bring them a treat.
Decades of Farm Animal Rescue at Rooterville
I have been blessed to spend more than 20 years rescuing farm animals and sharing their plight with people at events and online. Much of that work happened at Rooterville Animal Sanctuary, where generous, kindhearted people helped me rescue thousands of animals and spread the message of a kinder way of living.
Why the Work Is Changing
My age and health no longer allow me to do the hard physical work that rescue requires. The animals who came to us are now very old, and they continue to receive the love and care they deserve. As they pass, our focus will shift more and more toward educational visits and our farm animal experiences, primarily with our Highland cows.
What Hasn't Changed
I can still invite people onto the farm to meet the animals and learn how to treat them with kindness. Our educational signs still show visitors what life is really like for most farm animals, so they can see the difference here for themselves.
How Meeting Jett Started Fluffy Cow Farms
Three years ago at Christmas, I was feeling down. It had been about eight years since I suddenly lost my husband, and I decided to buy myself a gift, something I almost never do. That is when I discovered Highland cows and thought they were the cutest things I had ever seen.
01
Love at First Photograph
I searched until I found a farm within reach, and I bought Jett from a photograph. He had thick, fluffy red fur, the biggest doe eyes, and the sweetest expression of any cow there. He was seven months old when we made the three-hour drive to pick him up.
02
The Ride Home
Jett loaded into the trailer like a champ, settled down with a fresh bale of hay, and rode the entire way home, looking up with curiosity every time we opened the door to check on him. He unloaded like he had always lived here, and our other cows welcomed him right in.
03
A Cow Everyone Wanted to Meet
Jett was so gentle that I let him stay outside the pasture to greet visitors. I had no idea how popular fluffy cows were. People began driving in from all over just to snuggle him, and that is how Fluffy Cow Farms was born.
A New Chapter: Same Message, Fluffier Messengers
Our Highland cows are the sweetest, most lovable animals on the farm, and cuddling or sitting next to one is the experience of a lifetime for most guests. There are very few places that offer it, and making it available to visitors is my pleasure and joy.
The Smiles Make It Worth It
Seeing the smiles, the tears of joy, and the happiness on our guests' faces makes all the hard work of running a farm worthwhile. Alongside the cows, you will meet our adorable mini horse, Gabby, who was born in 2024 and is as cute as a bug.
A Place for Every Celebration
We also host parties, weddings, field trips, and events at our beautiful location, and we offer overnight stays in our farmhouse, covered wagons, RV sites, and tent sites. Every visit supports the care of the animals who make this place so special.
Our Mission: Making the World a Kinder Place
We love sharing our peaceful, healing environment and our very special animals with you. Our hope is that every guest leaves committed to making kind choices every day, so they can be a Super Hero for animals, the environment, and their health too.
Come Meet the Herd
Jett and his friends are waiting. Come see for yourself what happens when farm animals are treated as friends instead of food. We invite you to join us in making the world a kinder place.
